HOMETOWN HANDYMAN HUB

Community guidelines

Updated October 16, 2026.

Hometown Handyman Hub is being built around clear project details and honest descriptions of people's work. These guidelines cover profiles, project text and photos in the current pilot.

Describe your work honestly

Use accurate information about your identity, services, experience and qualifications. Do not impersonate another person or business. Do not present someone else's work, stock images or generated images as projects you completed, or invent customers, reviews, ratings or endorsements. Examples labeled as fictional are illustrations, not evidence of a real contractor or completed Hometown job.

Respect people and their privacy

Keep profiles and project content free of threats, harassment, unlawful discrimination, scams and spam. Honest criticism does not need to be positive.

Upload photos and text only when you have permission to use them. Keep other people's contact details, exact addresses, access codes and identity documents out of uploads. Check photos for faces, documents, number plates and other identifying details before attaching them. Your public homeowner fields can be seen by anyone with the profile link.

Review the project before relying on it

Read and edit the suggested tasks so they describe the work you intend. A prepared task list is a planning aid. A qualified professional should confirm the scope, relevant qualifications, permits and safe approach before work begins, especially for electrical, plumbing, structural or other hazardous work. A profile or service category alone does not prove a license, insurance or suitability for a job.

Do not use the planner for emergency response or to arrange unlawful work. For an immediate safety emergency, use the appropriate local emergency service.

Use the current pilot responsibly

Accounts, private project saves, private contractor portfolios and deliberately chosen public homeowner fields are available. Contractors can deliberately publish an exact reviewed service profile and work pair after consent and Hometown review. Editing or withdrawing revokes public text and preview reads while private originals remain. Verified homeowners can review and explicitly post supported cabinet hardware adjustment, freestanding furniture assembly and simple surface cleaning projects after confirming photo rights and public-sharing consent. Check the public task wording, selected processed photos, general area and homeowner profile link before posting. Saving alone does not post. Hazardous, trade-specific, unknown or mixed work stays held; no human-clearance service is available through this flow. Invitations, bidding, hiring, scheduling and payments remain unavailable. A draft, example portfolio or account signup is not a booking or payment receipt. Keep payment card and bank details out of the planner.

Choosing Withdraw project or saving a changed project revokes subsequent public reads of that project and its photos. Unsaved edits do not withdraw a posting, and other projects remain independent. Private saved work and original photos remain; project withdrawal does not remove the independently public homeowner profile. Already viewed, downloaded, copied or shared material cannot be recalled. Check Privacy before publishing.
